Gadgets, apps, books and planners won’t ‘fix’ our brains
But they can make it easier in the day to day rush.
Anything listed here will be ones I’ve personally used, tested, read – or it won’t go on the list. It’s so important to me that I have a transparent, trust-based communication with you.
I will add new books (so many ADHD books!) and items that I believe can be helpful as often as possible but if I can guarantee that if any of them are sponsored or given to me free (none yet!) I will let you know.

favourite tools
Gadgets, tools and yes, planners
I hope you know that I do not believe a single app, gadget, tool or planner is ‘THE’ answer to your executive dysfunction or emotional regulation – but just in case, I’m saying it again now. However – there are things that can make life easier for us, especially when we are busy business owners, adults, parents, partners, etc. These are all ones that I have used myself and are things I come back to more than once.

Planner Pad
I use this planner every week – I’ve not personally found another one that works to tame my ideas and plans in the same way. (I use the January start one).

Frixion Pens
I love these pens – the only WARNING that I would give is please don’t rest your coffee cup on the page OR put the note on top of a radiator. The ink fades away with heat but for most purposes, they are really, really helpful

Favourite books
Where do you begin?
There are SO many books about ADHD now – and there are some really good ones that I’m reading just now (this is true at any point in time so….). It can really begin to feel overwhelming if we are getting started so I’ve gathered a few of my all-time favourites.

Dr Russell Barkley
If you want to read a book by Dr Barkley, this would be the one to start with.

Caroline Maguire
If you’re the parent of an ADHD child under 14, this is a great book to help them learn social skills in the field.

Dr Sari Solden
The original and best RADICAL guide for women with ADHD. The audio book is also great.
Forms
Free self-assessment forms
These forms are all available online for non-clinical, non-diagnostic use at home. They are NOT an official diagnosis and you might find some of their language is negative and medicalised. However, they are useful to have if you’re going to talk with your doctor or trying to explain to an employer or educator why you’re having trouble with things that they think are ‘easy’.

Extra Resources
Here are some extras that I wanted to share. Some of them are ‘older’ resources of mine or things that you can just use immediately – for example the phone screensaver to help you pause when you’re about to impulse buy!
