How we use AI at Lightbulb ADHD
AI and Lightbulb ADHD

Using AI
It’s important to me that I’m clear with clients and readers about how I use AI in my business and coaching.
Here’s exactly where AI is used and not used in this practice.
I hold AI to the same standard I use for everything else: useful in its place as a tool but never a substitute for judgement or a shortcut around rigour.
Your coaching is always with me
When you work with Lightbulb ADHD, you get me. Sessions are always human. There is no AI coach or chatbot standing in for me, and nothing automated answering your questions at any point.
The thinking, coaching methodology, frameworks and the words in our work together are 100% human.
Where AI does help and is NEVER used:
I use AI as a tool in the back office of the business:
• Planning and admin: drafting internal documents, organising projects, and structuring my own thinking from voice notes and scribbled ideas.
• Content: AI assists me with drafting and structuring my ideas into fuller blog posts, emails, and other material.
Every piece of research or claim is verified by me against primary sources, the analysis and the writing are mine.
Where AI is never used:
• In our coaching: I don’t use AI to coach you, to generate responses for you, or to replace the human relationship that is what creates the power of co- creation in coaching.
• In Review: AI doesn’t make any decisions or stand in for my training and experience.
• As a substitute for expertise: AI doesn’t replace professional judgement, lived experience, or the standards I work to.
I don’t outsource my research or my thinking to a model.
Your information and your privacy:
This matters more in this work than in most, because what you share is personal.
• No client-identifiable information or session content ever goes into general-purpose AI tools (such as ChatGPT or Claude), regardless of plan or tier.
• Session notes are captured using an offline, on-device-only dictation tool (Speakmac). The transcription happens locally on my Mac – your session content is not sent to a cloud transcription service. I take notes this way so I can stay present in the conversation rather than writing while you talk.
• Your data is never used to train any AI model/LLM.
• If any part of our work involves recording or transcription, that is set out explicitly in your client agreement, and you can opt out.
For the full detail on how I store and handle your data, see my Privacy Policy.
Why I spell this out
My whole approach is about ethical coaching and evidence-based, and I’m openly critical of hype and claims that overreach in the coaching and wellness world. It would be odd to not include AI in my approach. I treat it as what it is – a capable tool with real limits – and I’d rather be straight with you about it than let you wonder.
